Our visit counter

We count visits with our own simple counter so we know which guides are useful. It is designed to respect your privacy:

  • It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device
  • It never stores your IP address. To count unique visitors, your IP address and browser type are combined with a random value that changes every day and turned into a one-way code. The random value is deleted after two days, so the code can't be traced back to you or linked across days
  • It records the page viewed, the website that sent you, your browser, device type, screen size, language and time zone (used to estimate your country), time spent on the page and how far you scrolled
  • It records clicks on links to other websites, such as GOV.UK and our partner sites
  • Data is kept for up to 730 days, is only seen by us and is never sold

The eligibility checker

The date of birth you type into our checker is worked out in your own browser. It is never sent to us.

Links to other sites

We link to GOV.UK and to other websites, including our partner sites Driving Theory Test Guide, the Local Driving Schools Directory and Intensive Driving Courses Wales. Links to our partner sites include a tag so those sites know you came from us. Each site has its own privacy policy.

Your rights

We don't ask for your name, email address or any other personal details, and the site has no forms that send us information. If you have a concern about how your data is handled, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
